“Will you be a friend among your colleagues in ministry?”
“Sometimes that feels like the easiest ordination vow to answer in the affirmative,” says the Rev. Chrissy Westbury, who is the Presbytery of Lake Michigan’s Associate Presbyter, “but life gets busy and it’s difficult to connect to colleagues spread across all southwest Michigan.”
So, starting in June, Rev. Westbury will host an hour-long “Noontime Pause” on the first and third Mondays of each month at noon. The first gathering will be Monday, June 5.
There is no agenda for these gatherings.
Instead, the gatherings will be a virtual “coffee” hour for anyone serving in a pastoral capacity – including CREs, stated supply and validated ministry – to gather, check in, share ideas and questions, and just generally be a friend among colleagues in ministry. Participants should feel free to bring their lunch and join the Zoomwhen they are able.
A reminder email with Zoom link details will be sent to all teaching elders within the presbytery the night before each gathering. Any pastor who does not receive these reminders should contact the presbytery’s office manager at office@lakemichiganpresbytery.org
Great idea, Chrissy! Sorry to say that I can’t be part of it as I’m not available on Mondays. Too bad!
