Any congregation that might apply for a 2022 FEMA Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) is encouraged by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to attend a November 19, 2021, webinar introducing the grant program and application process.

The NSGP allows faith-based and non-profit organizations, including churches, to apply for resources to help prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks. Some examples of projects the NSGP funds include:

  • Surveillance equipment,
  •  Physical protective measures such as fences, blast-proof windows, and concrete barriers,
  • Active shooter training, and
  • Security training for employees or members of the congregations.

FEMA will host the informative webinar at 3 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at https://fema.zoomgov.com/j/1618883651 with a meeting ID # of 161 888 3651 and a passcode of 964693. Questions about the webinar should be directed to FEMA’s Centralized Scheduling and Information Desk at (800) 368-6498 or AskCSID@fema.dhs.gov , or via a message to the NSGP inbox at FEMA-NSGP@fema.dhs.gov.

PC(USA) congregations may gain support in the complicated and time-bound application process from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. That group plans to evaluate and develop steps to assist with the application process. Comments and questions about that support effort should be directed to David Meyers at david.myers@pcusa.org
