Groups and families across Michigan may get supplies to plan and plant a 75-square-foot garden through the new “Good News Garden” program being offered by the Plainsong Farm & Ministry near Rockford.
Each participating church and household will receive a garden pack of 18 seeds and seedlings plus online garden education during the growing season from late May through late September. Also included will be a discipleship program that focuses on the ways the Bible links people, land, food, health and justice.
Plainsong Farm & Ministry has information on its website about how Kent County churches and households impacted by coronavirus and able to prepare, plant and tend a garden this season may qualify to join the “Good News Garden” program. Learn more here. Costs may be covered by funding provided by Heart of West Michigan United Way.
Additional gardens are being established at Episcopal churches through a special sponsorship by the Episcopal Dioceses of Western and Eastern Michigan.
Extra produce grown through the program also may be distributed via a network that Plainsong Farm & Ministry has established. Drop a message to hello@plainsongfarm.com to learn more about becoming a distribution partner.
