Alma College, the only Presbyterian college in Michigan, last fall launched the public phase of a $120 million campaign to enhance the 133-year-old institution’s endowment program, strengthen and enrich key programs, and modernize campus facilities.

“The Time is Now” plan includes $2 million to renovate Dunning Chapel. The proposed work also includes transforming the current library into The Learning Commons, building the Gerstacker Science and Technology Suite, building an addition to the athletics center, and reconstructing and renovating the Wright Opera House in downtown Alma. The goal is to
raise the $120 million by June 30, 2021. To date, more than 88% of the funds have been raised. More details about the proposed work may be found at the button below.

Representatives of the Alma College Advancement Office contacted the Presbytery of Lake Michigan to request financial support for the chapel renovation. In addition, the General Presbytery of the Presbytery of Detroit sent an email challenging other presbyteries to match a $25,000 donation that the Presbytery of Detroit has committed.

The Leadership Team of the Presbytery of Lake Michigan has decided to publicize Alma College’s decision to renovate the Dunning Chapel, and to encourage individuals and congregations to support this effort with gifts made directly to Alma College for the renovation of Dunning Chapel.

Please consider prayerfully and carefully this opportunity for participation in the life of the 133-year-old Alma College.
