Friends:
The Leadership Team and Presbytery Leaders have been carefully monitoring the situation related to the presence of COVID-19 in Michigan. Given the presence of coronavirus in Michigan and recommendations from the office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer, we have decided to make the following alterations to Saturday’s Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Lake Michigan.
The Presbytery of Lake Michigan will hold the scheduled Stated Meeting of the Presbytery at the First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/ Centreville on March 14, 2020 with the following changes as a necessary precaution for the safety of the members of the Presbytery:
- Business and worship activities scheduled on the Docket prior to the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper will remain the same.
- Sadly, we will not celebrate the Lord’s Supper, enjoy lunch together or present the afternoon round table activities as those activities place our members in close proximity and do not allow for the recommended social distancing.
- We also are encouraging persons who are vulnerable because of age or medical conditions to make wise and prudent decisions for yourselves. Persons who have any cold- or flu-like symptoms or respiratory difficulties are encouraged to remain at home.
Friends in Christ, the global pandemic has led us to a difficult and fearful time. Since we have confidence in Christ, we as believers do not live and respond in this world out of fear but prayerfully consider what is wise and respond prudently. We pray God’s presence with those who are fearful and ill that God’s presence of healing will lead them to peace and health. We pray for those who have lost loved ones. May God’s Presence of comfort surround them. May the assurance that in all things we belong to God fill our hearts and minds. Amen.
Peace in Christ,
The Leadership Team and Presbytery Co-Leaders
