Greetings friends!
For those of you who were able to be with us at our Presbytery-wide All Y’all Come event last Sunday – how great was that to see so many of our young people having such a fantastic time connecting with one another! Once again, a huge thank you to FPC-Hastings for hosting all 70+ of us – and the Presbytery for covering the food costs. It was a great couple hours of teenage worship, creativity, activity and connection.
For those who were unable to make it, we missed you and hope you’ll be able to bring your youth for future events. Speaking of which…
We did announce that all churches are invited to a Sr. High Winter Retreat that will take place January 9-11 and a Mid-High Winter Retreat February 27-March 1. Both will take place at Camp Wakanda (between Gaylord and Grayling), which is owned by Allen Park PC where I previously served. Let me know if you would like more details.
One of Sunday’s highlights for me was watching the leaders from each of the churches working so well together to create such a positive welcoming space for all. Hopefully we can build off that with our Presbytery Youth Strategy Team. As the new team leader for YST, I hope that in addition to coordinating youth events for the presbytery, that YST can also serve as a network of support for youth leaders (adults and young people). The vision is a zoom meeting every other month for connection and support, with a presbytery-wide fall (last Sunday), winter (retreats) and summer activity (Montreat?). We have some wonderful youth ministry talent and spirit spread throughout our Presbytery; I hope that together we can leverage it for the benefit of all the young people in our churches.
If you are willing/would like to be a part of the team or have someone else to add to this distribution list for general information, please let me know. Email: kirk@fpc-holt.org
Yours in Christ,
Kirk Miller
