On March 9, 2024, Dr. Jonathon Lee Walton preached the sermon at the Presbytery Stated Meeting and after the meeting, offered his thoughts on the future of theological education.
As the President of Princeton Theological Seminary, Dr. Walton encourages building a community with multiple entry points. He stated that “the reputation of theological education is measured by expanding the menu of their offerings, not by how many people we can keep out.” In a post COVID time, theological education must become more flexible, and who is prepared and how they are prepared must always be an open question.
Dr. Walton is hopeful and excited about the changes he sees in theological education and hopes to promote Micah 6:8 through learning and preparing students.
I very much enjoyed Dr. Walton’s sermon and Q&A during lunch. Thank you for bringing him to us. SusanReichenberg
