Registration is now open to attend one of four online conversations scheduled during April as Presbytery of Lake Michigan leaders gather input about what ministry and mission activities should be prioritized in drafting the 2024 proposed budget.
The meetings will be held via Zoom on:
- Monday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, April 25 at 3:30 p.m.
- Thursday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m.
Information gathered during these Mission & Ministry Budget Priority Conversations will be considered as presbytery leaders begin work to draft the 2024 budget.
Additional information will be gathered from MAPs (Ministry Action Plans) that presbytery and congregational leaders must submit by Friday, June 16, to identify what activities are planned during 2024, how those activities relate to the presbytery’s mission, values and goals, and what funds are needed to support those activities. More information will be distributed soon about this process.
In July, the Budget & Finance Committee members will review each submitted MAP and begin prioritizing how funds should be allocated within the 2024 budget plans.
Budget & Finance Committee members will draft a proposed budget for 2024 and, in concert with the Leadership Team, present the first read of the proposed 2024 budget during the Saturday, September 16, 2023 Stated Meeting.
Registration for each online Ministry & Missions Priorities Conversation can accommodate up to fifteen (15) people per meeting. Additional meetings will be scheduled if necessary..
The following participation guidelines also will be followed during these conversations.
- Each congregation is invited to send representatives to one conversation. These representatives may include up to three (3) Session members OR up to two (2) Session members and the pastor.
- Teaching elders who are members at large, validated ministers or honorably retired may register to attend any one of the conversations.
- Each campus ministry is invited to send the campus minister and one board member to attend one of the conversations.
Conversations will be recorded and that recording made available online.
Each person needs to register individually to attend a listening conversation. As noted above, we ask that all individuals representing a specific congregation or campus ministry attend the same meeting to facilitate conversation. The assumption is that all those individuals from one congregation or group will share information with others in the same congregation or group who were not able to attend.
Click here to register. Registration must be completed by 4 p.m. Monday, April 17.
Meeting link details will be sent to the email provided on the registration form at least 48 hours before the conversation is scheduled to start.
Those who cannot participate in one of the online conversations are encouraged to send written comments and questions to bnfmoderator@lakemichiganpresbytery.org
Questions about the registration process may be directed to office@lakemichiganpresybtery.org
