Donations are being collected by the United Campus Christian Fellowship (UCCF) to assemble “finals” snack bags for Grand Rapids area college students.

“We give the snack bags to any student who wants one until we run out,” says UCCF campus minister Nancy Janisch. “It’s a surprise for them during a stressful time. Snack bags are one way we let students know that we care about them.”

UCCF will distribute the bags at Grand Rapids Community College on April 19, at Kendall College of Art and Design on April 20, and at Grand Valley State University on April 23.

Congregation members can create and fill bags, often decorated with encouraging thoughts, at home or as a group project. Donated supplies and financial contributions are also welcome.

Each bag is filled with single-serve, pre-packaged, non-perishable items like granola or protein bars; microwavable items like popcorn, soup and oatmeal; chips or cookies; candy; drink mixes; tea or coffee; and dried fruit. Please no homemade items, fresh fruit, repackaged items or liquids.

UCCF volunteers can pick up donations the week of April 10.
