Several different boundaries training courses are being offered this fall to Presbytery of Lake Michigan members through a partnership between the Synod of the Covenant and its member presbyteries.

There is no charge to attend any of the courses but registration is required. Registration links are provided below. Any questions about registration should be directed to Heather Johnston Deeb, Synod Office Manager, at heather@synodofthecovenant.org.

An advanced boundaries training course is scheduled from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, September 13 and 14 online. 

The class is open to both teaching and ruling elders who have taken an introductory boundaries training through LeaderWise in the past year. Participants must attend both sessions to receive credit for completing the program.

A Healthy Church Boundaries course is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 8 and 9 online. Registration is due by Friday, September 23.

This congregation-centered boundaries training is for lay leaders and other key congregation members to help them understand healthy boundaries in the system of church. Some topics include triangulation and healthy communication as an alternative; good boundaries for adults meeting with youth; roles and boundaries; and why windows should be in office doors.

An introductory boundaries training course is scheduled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, November 16 and 17 online.

The class is open to both teaching and ruling elders who have taken an introductory boundaries training through LeaderWise in the past year. Participants must attend both sessions to receive credit for completing the program.

NOTE that completing this introductory course fulfills the Presbytery of Lake Michigan Sexual Misconduct Policy mandate that all teaching elders active in ministry within the bounds of the Presbytery complete boundaries and ethics training. This mandate applies to all teaching elders who are actively serving in congregations or in validated ministry, including members-at-large, Honorably Retired members, Commission Ruling Elders (CREs), and Christian educators (CCEs). Participants must submit a copy of their course completion certificate to office@lakemichiganpresybytery.org.
