Work to draft the 2023 budget includes intentionally gathering information about what ministry and mission activities best support the Presbytery of Lake Michigan’s core values, mission and vision.

Some of that input will be gathered during four online Ministry and Mission Priorities Conversations. Those meetings will be held via Zoom on:

  • Monday, April 25 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 26 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 28 from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 1 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.

Click here to learn more about the conversations and here to register by Monday, April 18.

Additional input will be gathered from MAPs (Ministry Action Plans).

MAPs provide a structured way to define the purpose of each ministry, to evaluate what has been accomplished in the past year and what goals are being pursued during the next year, and what funds are needed to support that work. Click here to find a copy of the 2023 MAPs form.

Facilitators and moderators who lead presbytery teams, commissions, committees and groups will receive an email by late May with details about how to complete and submit a MAP for their group. Congregations that seek funding within the presbytery budget for a local project should contact the Budget & Finance Committee moderator, Elder Sam O’Neill, at bnfmoderator@lakemichiganpresbytery.org for more information. All completed MAPs must be submitted via email by Friday, June 17, according to directions contained in the form.

Budget & Finance Committee members then will review the MAPs and feedback gathered during the Ministry and Mission Priorities Conversations as they draft a proposed budget for 2023. A first read of the 2023 proposed budget will occur during the September 17, 2022 Stated Meeting.
