SEEKING: Art, poems about “Sacred Places, Wild Spaces” sought for 8th annual Portage-Westminster Art Festival

Art and poetry submissions for the eighth annual Westminster Art Festival are being accepted through July 22.

The theme this year is “Sacred Spaces, Wild Places,” and asks participants to explore lessons that the earth offers for our busy lives. In light of the current state of our world, festival organizers also encourage participants to explore the global pandemic and the long overdue attention to police violence and racism in our country. Find a statement about the festival theme below.

Traditionally, submitted pieces are hung in the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Portage and a number of in-person events held. This year, submitted art will be hung at the church from August 1 through September 30 and the poetry will be presented in a published book.

Any artist age 16 years or older may submit one or two pieces that have been completed in the past two years. Poets may submit one or two 8 ½-inch by 11-inch page sheets with minimum ½-inch margins.  Complete entry guidelines may be found below.

Poets may submit one or two 8 ½ x 11 page sheets with minimum ½ inch margins. Submissions will be accepted between 1 and 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and at other times by arrangement.
