The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has a new agency and a renewed sense of purpose. Presbyterian Life & Witness (PLW) brings together the former Presbyterian Mission Agency and the Office of the General Assembly into one unified body, the result of work set in motion by the 225th General Assembly in 2022. A Unification Commission of pastors, presbytery leaders, and young adult advisory delegates guided the process, and the agency is now led by the Rev. Jihyun Oh, Executive Director and Stated Clerk of the General Assembly.

At its core, PLW is called to convene, connect, equip, and empower the whole church as disciples journeying toward God’s wholeness — a vision rooted in shalom: healing, justice, restoration, and right relationship. Four values shape how the agency lives this out: Nimble, Trustworthy, Learning, and Courageous.

Looking ahead, PLW’s priorities include strengthening thriving mid councils, disciple formation and leader development, restorative justice and witness, and the ongoing work of unifying two agencies into one faithful partner for the whole PC(USA).

As the agency settles into its new structure, it invites congregations and mid councils to journey with it into this next season of shared ministry.
