Registration is now open for the 2026 James Atwood Institute for Congregational Courage, a national gathering focused on equipping faith leaders for meaningful ministry around gun violence prevention. Taking place September 15–18, 2026, at the Heartland Retreat Center, just outside of Kansas City, MO.
Clergy and lay leaders from across the country are invited to come together for a time of training, connection, and inspiration. Participants will stay onsite and share meals together, creating space for deeper relationships, meaningful conversation, and community building throughout the event.
This year’s keynote speaker, Jer Swigart, is a nationally recognized leader in conflict transformation and faith-based peacemaking. His work centers on helping leaders navigate division, build relationships across differences, and respond to violence with courage and clarity, skills that are especially vital in today’s context.
