After the intensity of the election season, we recognize the wide range of emotions that people are experiencing —those who are uncertain, fearful, and anxious, as well as those who are hopeful. As people of faith, we are committed to walking together, bridging divides, and holding firm to the belief that our collective future depends on justice, and care for all.
This is a defining moment for our nation, as well as our individual communities. We are called to remain engaged in our communities and our nation through thoughtful prayer, continuous learning, and intentional action.
The Presbytery of Lake Michigan stands firm in its commitment to principles of justice, inclusion, and respect—especially in times of division and uncertainty. We reject political violence in all forms and condemn dishonesty and deception as acceptable behavior. We affirm the integrity of the democratic process, where every person’s dignity is honored and every vote is counted with fairness. We denounce efforts to disenfranchise, intimidate, or divide communities through fear, misinformation, and violence. We will continue to love radically in our daily lives, as Jesus calls us to serve the most vulnerable in our communities.
If you are feeling the need to process through emotions, and look to the future, please join us at the Noontime Pause the first Monday and third Thursday of each month. The next upcoming meetings will be November 21, 2024 and December 19, 2024.
