The 226th General Assembly (2024) has approved significant changes to the churchwide Special Offerings, set to begin on January 1, 2026. These changes, recommended by the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board through the Special Offerings Review Task Force, introduce a new lineup of offerings:

  • One Great Hour of Sharing
  • World Communion Offering
  • Christmas Joy Offering

Here’s what you need to know:

The Pentecost Offering will end after 2025, but its supported causes, including ministries for children-at-risk, youth, and young adults, will now be funded through the Christmas Joy Offering.

The Peace & Global Witness Offering will be renamed the World Communion Offering starting in 2026. Until then, congregations can retain a portion of their Pentecost and Peace & Global Witness gifts. In 2026, a new grant program will be established to support local and regional ministries, with an accessible grant process focused on equity and creativity.

Future funding will focus on causes rather than specific programs, allowing for broader support and innovative ways to engage in ministry. Existing programs will still receive support, but the expanded scope aims to involve more participants in the churchwide Special Offerings.

In the coming year, the Special Offerings experience will be redefined to reflect these changes. Watch for updates and continue to access resources and information about the current offerings.
