Worship, service and games engaged 33 youth and 15 leaders from 8 different churches during Urban Plunge 2021 in early November.
The event was hosted by Brooklyn Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 6 and organized by the Presbytery of Lake Michigan’s Youth Strategies Committee. Participating were youth from Brooklyn, Holt, Mason, Muskegon, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Sturgis and Paw Paw.
Participants gathered that morning for “tailgate style” welcome and prayer before heading out to do mission work at various sites, including the Equestrian Outreach Center, Youth Haven Ranch, Jackson County Animal Shelter, and Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry.
After gathering for lunch, the groups headed out to do more mission work. This time, groups headed to the Jackson County Animal Shelter or the Catherine Cobb Shelter or stayed at the church to make decorative pumpkins for 81 residents at the Brooklyn Living Center.
Dinner was followed by a competitive round of Minute to Win It games before worship focused on the event’s theme: Put on the Full Armor of God based on Ephesians 6:11.
The event concluded with s’mores around a bonfire, discussion about the day’s events and future events, and a few last impromptu games.
