Registrations are due by Wednesday, May 5, for the first of three boundaries training classes being offered this year at no charge to any teaching elder or ruling elder within the Synod of the Covenant.
Trainers with LeaderWise will present the Not Your Usual Boundaries Training! class three times during 2021 under an agreement with the Synod. Each class will be offered via Zoom in two 2.5-hour sessions on successive days. The classes are scheduled from:
9 to 11:30 a.m.
Tues and Wed, May 18 and 19
Registration due May 5

Wed and Thurs, August 18 and 19 Registration due August 5
9 to 11:30 a.m. on
Tues and Wed, Nov 9 and 10 Registration due Oct 27

Examples used by facilitators in the May and November sessions will be targeted more towards pastors and teaching elders while examples during the August session will be geared more towards ruling elders. But participants are welcome to attend whichever pair of sessions best fits their schedule.
Completing this course fulfills the mandate that all teaching elders active with ministry within the Presbytery of Lake Michigan complete boundaries and ethics training. This mandate applies to all teaching elders who are actively serving in congregations and validated ministry, honorably retired or members at large plus Commissioned Ruling Elders and Christian educators.
The boundaries training class is just one course that the Synod is offering through an agreement with LeaderWise. Other courses being offered include:
- Racial Justice Training from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 26 with a required assessment to be done before that date and a debrief session after.
- Emotional Intelligence Training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 with an assessment to be done before that date.
- Healthy Conflict Management from 9 a.m. to noon September 29 with an assessment to be done before that date.
- Committee on Ministry and Committee on the Preparation for Ministry Training from 9 a.m. to noon October 13
The actual training costs are being paid by the Synod and participating presbyteries but there are additional testing or material costs associated with some courses.
