On his first day back in office, President Trump issued an executive order recognizing only two fixed biological sexes. This decision denies the legal identities of transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, agender, and intersex individuals on federal identification documents like passports and visas. It also eliminates federal funding for transgender healthcare, such as hormone treatments and gender-affirming surgeries, endangers incarcerated transgender women by placing them in men’s prisons, and excludes transgender women from shelters for survivors of sexual assault.

Designed as a weapon against marginalized groups, this order harms “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40). As Presbyterians, we affirm God’s care for the destitute and oppressed (Confession of Belhar) and are called to love and advocate for our transgender and queer siblings (Leviticus 19:18).

Here is a list of resources for members of the LGBTQ+ community and for those seeking to engage in advocacy and allyship. We encourage you to share these resources with your congregations and raise awareness within your communities.
