The Peoples Church is proud to feature Rev. Dr. William Yoo as the speaker for the annual Henry and Annabel Larzelere Memorial Lecture. His lecture, titled “Striving and Struggling for a More Perfect Faith and More Perfect Union: The Past, Present, and Future of Racism and American Christianity,” will explore the history of racism within American Christianity. Yoo will examine past motivations, discuss current legacies, and offer insights for building a more racially just future.

Rev. Dr William Yoo will be at the Presbyterian Church of Okemos to discuss his book, What Kind of Christianity: A History of Slavery and Anti-Black Racism in the Presbyterian Church.
Yoo’s research involves examining the histories of racial injustice, settler colonialism, and slavery in the United States. If we as Christians want to pursue racial justice, we must first understand racial injustice and the ways it is part of our histories and identities.

The Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan will host a luncheon for Rev. Dr. William Yoo at The Peoples Church on Monday, Nov. 11, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
Following the luncheon, there will be a presentation on The Justice League of Greater Lansing, Michigan’s work and their model for reparations. Dr. Yoo will deliver remarks and participate in a Q&A session with the audience.
