The Presbytery would like to offer you an opportunity to gather for prayer, fellowship, and theological discussion around Jesus and the Pharisees: A Study of Matthew 12. Rev. Jay Ayers will lead our time together. Jay is a retired PCUSA pastor, and a member of the Presbytery of Lake Michigan; he holds a PhD in historical theology from Boston College, and served as the Q&A columnist for Presbyterians Today for 14 years. We invite you to bring a sack lunch and join us at 10:30 a.m. for a brief time of prayer. At 11:00, we will spend an hour discussing Jesus and the Pharisees, and then at 12:00 p.m., we will end the time of discussion and enjoy lunch and fellowship.

We will meet in person at the Presbytery office in Portage, MI (1511 Helen Avenue, Portage, MI) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please mark the following dates and times on your calendars and join us for this special time.

A word from Jay: “The argument between Jesus and the Pharisees runs through much of the gospels, but is particularly in focus in Matthew 12. The chapter is divided into ten units that enable us to see how that argument proceeds. We will not be able to review all ten in these four gatherings, but we will get several of the most interesting of them: Gleaning and Healing on the Sabbath (12:1-14) on 9/11; The Unforgivable Sin (12:22-32) on 11/13; The Parable of Jonah (12:38-42) on 1/8; and The Parable of the Cast Out Demon (12:43-45) on 3/12. Come on along. It’s going to be fun!”
