The Synod of the Covenant is excited to share the allocation of $50,000 in Matthew 25 grants to 17 congregations and ministries across 9 presbyteries. Ranging from $600 to $5,000, these grants aim to bolster congregational vitality, address structural racism, and combat systemic poverty in line with the Matthew 25 movement. Out of 38 grant applications, 17 were awarded.

Notably, two congregations from the Presbytery of Lake Michigan were recipients of these grants: First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw received $5,000 for the Mi Casa Su Casa Project, while Westminster Presbyterian Church Portage was granted $2,500 for a warming center initiative.

These grants, as well as the Higher Education Scholarships previously announced, are funded in part by per capita payments from the 650 Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations and more than 80,000 members, mostly in the states of Ohio and Michigan, throughout the Synod of the Covenant.
