Advance registrations are due by Tuesday, September 5, for the next Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Lake Michigan.

The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at The Presbyterian Church, 2258 Bennett Road, Okemos, MI.  Avery Arden, an autistic, gender-queer minister who is a board member of More Light Presbyterians and creator of the “Blessed Are the Binary Breakers” multifaith podcast of trans stories, will bring the message.

The business meeting – with the theme of Lift Up Your People – will focus on the work of our congregations plus the first reading of the 2024 proposed presbytery budget. A candidate will be examined for ordination.

The meeting offerings have been designated for the presbytery’s candidates and inquirers.

After lunch, there will be a presentation and panel discussion led by Arden and Nominating & Representation Committee members about gender diversity. The panel will feature presbytery members and congregations speaking about their experiences with the topic.

Teaching elders, ruling elder commissioners, corresponding members, presenters, staff, guests, and visitors who will attend the meeting in person should register using an online form. Others may observe the meeting via a livestream video feed that will be available on the presbytery’s website that day. Late registration requests should be sent to office@lakemichiganpresbytey.org,

Childcare for those 2 to 7 years old will be available if requested by Tuesday, September 5, 2023, via the online advance registration form.
