Congregations can seek ways to help others in the community even during a pandemic. One way a congregation is helping is being promoted on Facebook by the Rev. Helen Havlik at North Park Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids.

Hello NPPC Families,

NPPC is participating in the Access Walk for Good Food, taking place May 3-13. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are walking safely in our neighborhood.

The goal of the Walk is to fund non-profit organizations that address issues of food access and poverty. This year, 11 local organizations will benefit from the Walk. Right now, inequities in our food system are heightened as the most vulnerable in our community are impacted by COVID-19 through loss of income, access to meals, and more. We need a Good Food System that functions for everyone, especially in times of crisis. The non-profit organizations receiving funding from this year’s walk need your support in this difficult season as we work together to create a thriving food system for all. They are all working hard to meet the challenges of COVID-19 in our community right now.

Over the last 43 years, the Walk has raised over $6 million for dozens of local non-profit organizations. This year our goal is to raise $85,000. Together, we can build a thriving Good Food system for all.
