Information for Clerks and Other Congregation Leaders to Know

Celebration of Saints

Preparations are being made for the Celebration of Saints that occurs during the Presbytery of Lake Michigan Stated Meeting each December. During this celebration, the names of all Elders who have gone to eternal glory during the past year are reported and honored.

To prepare, we need your help compiling a list of any Elders from your congregation who joined the Church Triumphant between October 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019.

Please gather a list of any Elders from your congregation who should be included in the Celebration of Saints and the dates of their deaths. Then, click here to enter the information online. If no elders died in the past year, simply record “NONE” in the field where you are asked to name individuals so it can be reported that your church did respond.

You also may click here for a fillable .pdf form. After entering your information, either send it as an e-mail attachment to office@lakemichiganpresbytery.org or return it via postal mail to the presbytery at 1511 Helen Avenue, Portage, MI 49002.

Information about Elders to be honored in the Celebration of Saints service during the December 3, 2019 Stated Meeting must be submitted by Monday, November 11, 2019.

Benefits Selection Ends October 11

Congregational leaders must select each year what benefits will be offered to staff and submit the Employer Agreement.

The deadline to make these selections for 2020 is Friday, October 11. If no selections are made, employees will not be able to enroll.

To explore what benefits are available and make the selections, congregational leaders should visit pensions-org/selecting-2020 or call (800) 773-7752 (800-PRESPLAN).

Save the Date: Statistical Report opens December 6

Clerks should start gathering information to complete the 2018 Session Annual Report.

PC(USA) will open the on-line site to enter the requested information on Friday, December 6, 2019. Please plan to have Session members approve the statistical report data as soon as possible after December 31, 2019. Clerks will have until Friday, February 14, 2020 to submit information.

Details about what information to gather and how to complete the report may be found at http://ogapcusa.org/stats. The site includes a workbook about the reporting process.

Questions also may be directed to the presbytery’s Stated Clerk, Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence, at flanelawrenceplm@gmail.com.
